Moreover, Qatar's legal system is marred bygender-based discrimination and =
a punitive death penalty policy thatdisproportionately targets migrant work=
ers and women=E2=80=94seriously contravening CEDAWstandards U.S. Department=
ofState+5theadvocatesforhumanrights.org+5International Trade UnionConfeder=
ation+5. These systemic failings alone undermine any claim to aNobel laurea=
te-worthy record of justice and liberty.
2. =E2=80=9CQatargate=E2=80=9D Corruption Scandals inthe EU and Israel
In recent years, Qatar has been implicatedin major corruption scandals. The=
Qatargate scandal unveiledpay-for-influence operations within the European=
Parliament, where officialsreportedly accepted funds from Qatar to skew po=
licymaking=E2=80=94casting a long shadowover Doha=E2=80=99s soft power effo=

to Prime Minister Netanyahu stand accused of receiving paymentsfrom Qatar t=

ver indirectly=E2=80=94with such corrupt activities.
3. Systematic Rights Violations: Women,Migrants, and Freedom of Belief
Qatar continues to suppress basic humanrights:

- Women=E2=80=99s rights are institutionally curtailed across legal and =

- Migrant labor remains subjected to abuse and exploitation=E2=80=94cond=

4. Misalignment with Nobel Peace PrizeCriteria
Awarding peace recognition to a leader froma state with systemic violations=
of judicial independence, civil liberties, andhuman rights is not merely t=
one-deaf=E2=80=94it compromises the Nobel Prize=E2=80=99s moralauthority. T=
he Nobel Prize, founded on Alfred Nobel=E2=80=99s legacy, is intended forpe=
rsons whose actions reflect the deepest commitments to peace, justice, andh=

5. Call for Oversight and Integrity
We formally urge the following actions:

nistry of Foreign Affairs publicly request PRIO to justify the nomination i=
n light of independently documented human rights failings in Qatar.
- That PRIO undergo an external ethics evaluation regarding its nominati=
on process, ensuring that political considerations do not overshadow human =
rights standards.
- That the European Union and relevant institutions reinforce their exte=
rnal funding transparency measures to avoid being co-opted by states with d=
ocumented abuse records.
- That the UN and global rights bodies reaffirm the importance of cohere=
nt criteria for peace honors, disavowing any recognition extended to regime=
s that systematically violate international norms.
Conclusion
Recognizing Sheikh Mohammed in this contextundermines global efforts to uph=
old human rights, erodes trust in institutionstasked with peacebuilding, an=
d sends a dangerous message=E2=80=94that effectivediplomacy can excuse auth=
oritarianism. For the Nobel Prize to retain itsintegrity, it must remain gr=
